At Fairway Primary School we strongly promote democracy and encourage every child to develop and express their opinion. Our Pupil Leadership champion our super six values: Cooperation, Courage, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Self-Discipline.
See below for details of our Pupil Leadership roles at Fairway and for opportunities to represent our fantastic school.
Head Boys & Girls
At Fairway Primary School, we have two Head Boys and two Head Girls. They are responsible for representing the school, leading pupil initiatives and chairing our School Council meetings.
Our Head Boys & Girls often meet with our School Governors and represent the 'Pupil Voice' of Fairway. In addition, they help present awards in our weekly Headteacher's awards assembly.
School Council
Our School Council consists of two elected members from each class (Reception to Y6). We have School Council meetings each half term focusing on different topics.
School Councillors:
- Represent the 'Pupil Voice'.
- Identify key issues and problem solve on how to resolve them.
- Meet with our Governors to provide feedback about our Curriculum.
- Give feedback to teachers.
- Support teachers with the organisation of whole school events.
House Captains
Our House Captains work alongside our Head Boys & Girls acting as role models. They assist with sporting events such as Sports Day and are available in the playground to lead games and make sure everyone has a 'buddy'.
Junior Travel Ambassadors
Our Junior Travel Ambassadors (JTAs) are responsible for leading the way with travel events such as walk to school week, the big pedal and road safety initiatives.
As part of the role, our JTAs regularly meet with our school council to propose ways we can support sustainable travel; focusing on being as active as possible.
We currently hold Gold Level Accreditation!
Digital Leaders
Digital Leaders in Y4, Y5 & Y6 are children who support IT and Computing across the school.
Our Digital Leaders assist with:
- Testing out new Computing resources (hardware and software).
- Running our lunchtime coding club.
- Maintaining IT resources.
- Computing lessons in class.
- Uploading work to Seesaw (our digital portfolio).
French Ambassadors
Bonjour et bienvenue à Fairway.
Hello and welcome to Fairway.
Our new team of French Ambassadors consists of selected pupils from Years 3 to 6. They support the learning of French in class, which takes place in Key Stage 2 and they take the lead in special events. As part of the role, the team meets once a fortnight with the MFL Lead teacher to discuss possible new events and ways to raise the profile of French throughout the school. If you want to know anything about how French is taught at Fairway or what future events we have planned, the French Ambassadors will be happy to talk to you.
Dance Squad
Fairway Dance Squad, selected from Years 4, 5 and 6 and love everything about Dance. We meet every Friday after school to rehearse and we perform for the school and visitors at various times throughout the year. We also perform annually at Barnet’s Dance Festival which takes place at the Artsdepot Theatre in North Finchley. If you want to know anything about Dance, we are the children to ask.
