Wellbeing means feeling safe, happy, healthy, and able to cope with life’s ups and downs. It’s about helping children to feel good about themselves, build positive relationships, and have the confidence and resilience to try new things and manage challenges.
Good wellbeing includes:

Tips to Support Your Child’s Wellbeing at Home
Here are some simple yet powerful ways to foster your child’s mental health at home:
1. Encourage Routine and Balance:
Having a consistent daily routine helps children feel secure. Ensure they get enough sleep, eat balanced meals, and have time for both learning and relaxation.
2. Celebrate Effort, Not Perfection:
Praise your child for trying their best rather than focusing solely on achievements. This builds self-esteem and encourages a growth mindset.
3. Spend Quality Time Together:
Set aside time to connect with your child through activities they enjoy, like playing a game, reading together, or just talking. Your presence reassures them they’re valued and supported.
4. Limit Screen Time:
Encourage activities that promote creativity, physical movement, and social interaction rather than excessive screen use, which can affect mood and behaviour.

Recognition
We are proud to have been awarded with the Barnet Resilient Schools accreditation, recognising our ongoing commitment to supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of every child, member of staff, and family in our school community.

Commitment
We are proud to share that ALL of our teaching and learning staff have received training in 'Supporting Children and Young People with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs: A toolkit of strategies' delivered by Barnet's Inclusion Advisory Team, ensuring that our staff are equipped to support the emotional needs of our pupils.
In addition, our DSL Team (Mr Reilly, Mrs Shah and Mr Ronchetti) are qualified Mental Health First Aiders, trained to recognise signs of mental distress and provide early, supportive interventions.

The Fairway Approach
We offer a range of targeted interventions and support strategies to help children manage their emotions, build resilience, and develop strong social skills. These include:

Forest School – providing regular opportunities for children to connect with nature, build confidence, and improve wellbeing through outdoor learning.

LEGO Therapy – a structured group intervention that helps children develop communication, cooperation, and problem-solving skills through shared play.

Sycamore Room – a calm, welcoming space where children can come to talk about how they’re feeling. The room includes a Worry Box, where pupils can safely share any concerns they might have.
To promote emotional literacy and self-regulation across the school, we use the Zones of Regulation framework. This helps children to understand and manage their emotions using a consistent, shared language – supporting both staff and pupils in recognising and responding to feelings effectively.
Where children need additional support, we work closely with external agencies such as BICS (Barnet Integrated Clinical Services) and CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), ensuring that families can access professional guidance when needed.
Our approach is embedded in daily school life and reflects our belief that wellbeing is the foundation of successful learning and lifelong personal growth.
